Hiking Near Moab
Here’s a few photos from a recent hike near Moab, UT. I’m going to play with them a bit and see if any will work as a Profile Photo. I expect mockery from Charles…

I Did it! Woot!
You need to imagine Stephen Colbert doing his bit to get the real humor in this. But,
I Did It! I Did It! Woot!! I Did It!
Both regular readers of Arranged Delirium will remember my criticism of Facebook’s unannounced UI changes. Thanks to me and all my readers’ incessant lobbying, FB naturally made modifications. Its good to know that one person can make a difference. Here’s a screen capture of the new interface that we’re all able to enjoy now:

The interface allows you to chose for yourself how you’d like to make use of the return key - either as a return, or as a mechanism for entering your comment. Imagine that - giving users the choice of what they want to do! What a novel approach for Facebook…
Of course, this was done months ago, but I’m only now getting around to blogging about it. Thats because I’ve been so busy on the media circuit taking responsibility for instigating this change. You’re welcome.

Failed Point
Charles’ Failed Point is widely known across the country. Here yo can see my friend Brian emulating it for all. I fear for Charles sake, that it may be on its way to becoming a meme of some limited sort.

I illustrated the proper pointing technique just after this shot was taken, and you can see how well he did. I don’t know why Charles can’t get it?

Political Typology Quiz
Thanks to a friend on Facebook for pointing me toward the Political Typology Quiz from the Pew Research Center. I like this tool because it does a good job of representing the broader spectrum of political interests within the US, and this is important for all of us to recognize are we are repeatedly disappointed with our representation that typically falls on both far ends of the spectrum. Until we can get more moderates in office, I think we are likely to continue being failed by our government.
Not surprisingly, I am a Postmodern. Unfortunately, only 13% of the public is so enlightened! Ironically, this is the youngest of the typology groups with 32% under age 30. My conservative friends will suggest that this means I’ve never grown up; but I would argue that it simply indicates that I remain young at heart…
Where do you fall? Feel free to leave the results in a comment - I’m interested in seeing how accurate you believe the results might be.

Hype 1.0
I’m always telling my students not to plan on Flash as the sole tool for web animations, and I think they are always hesitant to believe me. But as I move toward implementing HTML 5 in my web development courses, I don’t see any reason not to abandon Flash altogether for the types of things we do. (And, I would argue that most folks developing Flash content do not use its full set of capabilities.) Anyway, I’ve been looking at Hype as a potential tool for creating simple web animations that will work on all devices. Check it out!
